Indian entrepreneur Dr. Ram Buxani has passed away in Dubai at the age of 83. He succumbed to an incident that occurred at his residence at approximately 1:00 AM on Sunday. Dr. Buxani arrived in Dubai in November 1959 via sea route when he was merely 18 years old.

A prominent business figure and philanthropist in the UAE, Dr. Buxani held several key positions across various enterprises. He notably served as the President of the Rotary Club of Jumeirah in Dubai and was a fervent supporter of education, having chaired the Indian High School, which he co-founded and helped secure land and funding for.

Dr. Buxani founded International Traders (East Africa) in 1953, which was later rebranded as International Traders (ME) Ltd. His business group launched its first Cosmos showroom in Deira in 1969. Subsequently, the group expanded into the hospitality industry, acquiring shares in the Ambassador Hotel and Astoria Hotel, both located in Deira.

The ITL Cosmos Group further diversified into the food and beverage sector, introducing Kwality Ice Cream.
