Rayhan Thomas made a solid start with a four under par 67 in the Final Stage of the DP World Tour Qualifying School in Spain.
Rayhan Thomas (Ind) fired an opening round of four under par 67 to secure a tied 26th position in the DP World Tour Qualifying School Final Stage at INFINITUM Golf, Tarragona, Spain. He played a level par 35 on the front nine with no bogeys or birdies, followed by five birdies and a single bogey on the par five 16th on the back nine, resulting in a scorecard of 67 over the par 71 course.
Thomas commented after his round: “I played pretty well today, drove it well and hit some good iron shots, but I struggled with my putting early on. My putting improved significantly on the back nine, which helped me convert some good iron play. I’m excited about my performance so far. Tomorrow, we switch to the Hills Course, which is narrower than the Lakes Course and I think it’s a better layout, so it should be another good day.”
Leading the first round is 30-year-old Felix Morey (Fr) with a remarkable 10 under 61, featuring six birdies, two eagles, and the rest pars. Impressive performances were also seen from several top players, with Callan Barrow (Eng) leading the charge with a sizzling 63, fresh from his victory at the 2024 Clutch Pro Tour event in Ras Al Khaimah. Italian Eduardo Molinari posted a solid 65, while Scotland’s David Law carded a respectable 67. China's Ashun Wu and Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher were steady with rounds of 68 and 69, respectively. England’s Eddie Pepperell finished with a 70, and Spain’s Adri Arnaus rounded out the top contenders with a 71.
Thomas will tee off at 10.06 am (Local Spain time) on the 10th tee for day two, playing in the same group as round one. A total of 119 out of 156 players shot par or better in the first round. The cut will be made after 72 holes to the top 65 players and ties, who will then compete in the final two rounds. The top 20 players and ties after 108 holes will earn playing privileges on the DP World Tour for the next season.
