As the UAE’s 53rd National Day draws near, the Sharjah Old Cars Club (SOCC) is gearing up to rekindle the passion of vintage car enthusiasts and cultural aficionados with the highly anticipated ‘Route 71’ rally. Scheduled for December 2, the rally’s second edition, in collaboration with Sharjah Driving Institute as the Official Sponsor and Emirates Auctions as the Logistics Partner, aims to amplify the celebration of the UAE’s spirit. Participants will navigate a meticulously planned route that traverses iconic landscapes, heritage sites, and stunning vistas, each segment of the journey a homage to the nation’s profound history.
The rally will cover six key stops across Sharjah, beginning at SOCC at 9am and progressing to the tranquil Al Badayer Retreat, followed by a visit to Sharjah Safari, and then on to the picturesque Kingfisher Retreat in Kalba. The route will then take participants through the architectural marvel of Khor Fakkan Amphitheatre before culminating at the historic coastal town of Dibba Al-Hisn. This immersive tour not only highlights the UAE’s distinctive heritage but also encapsulates the adventurous spirit that has drawn vintage car enthusiasts to the rally since its inception.
“Building on the extraordinary success of last year’s event, the second edition of Route 71 embodies a renewed spirit—one that not only celebrates the enduring charm of vintage cars but also deeply reveres our national pride,” stated Dr. Mohammed Bin Butti Al-Hajeri, Vice Chairman of SOCC. “Our passion for classic cars deeply resonates with the spirit of the UAE’s National Day. These vehicles are more than mere historical relics; they are cherished symbols of our nation’s evolution since 1971.” As participants traverse each station, these cars narrate rich tales of the past, fortifying a lasting bond with the UAE’s heritage. This rally is a tribute to our shared journey, infusing a profound sense of joy and pride in all who participate.
All participants must complete liability waivers provided by SOCC to ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone involved. Each driver will be issued an exclusive event passport, which will be stamped at each station to commemorate their journey. The rally will conclude with a grand celebration at the Sharjah Old Cars Club, where winners will be awarded commemorative gifts and certificates against a festive backdrop, capturing a timeless memento of their rally experience.
