Saoirse Ronan, a four-time Academy Award nominee, has expressed her desire to star in a major Hollywood action film after a career predominantly focused on smaller projects. However, she has no interest in appearing in a Marvel movie. During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ronan addressed rumors that she was offered the role of Yelena in Black Widow. While she danced around the question without providing a definitive answer, it is known that Florence Pugh ultimately played the part and will reprise her role in 2025's Thunderbolts.

Regarding her potential involvement in the Marvel universe, Ronan stated, "I can't see myself doing Marvel. There is nothing wrong with [Marvel], and I think they are brilliant films." Despite her disinterest in Marvel, she expressed a keen interest in landing a role in a "big" movie, such as James Bond. "I would prefer to do Bond," she said. "I want to do more big movies, especially after seeing Greta Gerwig make Barbie. I want to do that. Of course I want to do that stuff."

Previously, Ronan had mentioned that a dream role for her would be to play a Bond villain. She also revealed that she was once in the running to play Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter series. Although her audition was described as "the coolest thing ever," she ultimately did not secure the role, partly due to her young age at the time.

Ronan's impressive filmography includes Academy Award nominations for Atonement, Brooklyn, Lady Bird, and Little Women. Her latest film, The Outrun, premiered at the end of September.
