In the NFL, when players execute something extraordinary on the field, fans sometimes call it a 'video-game move.' However, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley took this concept to a new level earlier this season by jumping over a defender while looking away. EA Sports couldn't resist incorporating this no-look hurdle into the latest update for Madden NFL 25, but it's exclusive to Barkley and not easy to perform.

As part of the release notes for the new Madden NFL 25 update, EA explained that the development team swiftly decided to include Barkley's 'once-in-a-lifetime move' in the game by reviewing hours of motion-capture footage. They then identified which animations could be adjusted to replicate Barkley's leap, with some additional 'animator magic' to perfect the move.

While this move would be highly advantageous for any player, the developers have imposed certain restrictions, beyond limiting it to Barkley's in-game avatar. To execute a Saquon spin hurdle, the defender must approach the player from the front at a 45-degree angle. The move also demands precise timing and close proximity between the player and the defender. So, while it's possible, it may not be the guaranteed outcome of every play under these conditions.

Later this month, Amazon's Prime Video will premiere 'It's in the Game,' a four-part documentary series exploring the history and development of the Madden NFL games. The series will debut on November 26. Additionally, Nicolas Cage is set to portray John Madden in a new biopic from writer and director David O. Russell.
