Rare has finally lifted the pirate's curse in Sea of Thieves, allowing players to bend their knees for the first time. Yes, buccaneers can now crouch in the multiplayer action-adventure game after precisely six years, six months, and 27 days. But who's keeping track? Rare, it turns out, as the Sea of Thieves studio shared this fun fact on X. A brief clip showcases the newfound flexibility of pirates in the game, accompanied by some playful fanfare to mark the occasion. This update is part of Season 14's focus on "sneaky strategies," according to the developer.
Season 14 for Sea of Thieves is officially dubbed Making Mischief. Alongside the crouching feature, Rare emphasizes the free update's inclusions of disguises, a grapple gun, and a blowpipe with darts, all demonstrated in a YouTube video. The latest season went live on October 17.
Earlier this year, Sea of Thieves made history as one of four Xbox games to debut on rival platforms, launching on PS5. This expansion to Sony's system resulted in the game being featured on GameSpot's list of the 25 best cross-platform games to play with friends. Xbox and PlayStation players can now unite to sail the high seas together.
Moreover, Sea of Thieves has reportedly performed exceptionally well on PS5, with sales surpassing 1 million copies. The game also recently appeared on the top 20 best-selling games list for August in the US, securing the No. 16 spot.
