Sharjah authorities have successfully thwarted seven attempts to smuggle narcotics from July to September of this year. The Sharjah Ports, Customs, and Free Zones Authority managed to seize a total of 45.426kg of drugs from Khalid Port during this period. These smuggling attempts involved concealing the drugs in various forms, such as bags, machines, or containers. Despite the sophisticated methods used by the smugglers, the inspection officers at the port remained highly vigilant and resolute in their mission to confront and prevent the entry of prohibited substances.
The authority emphasized that combating drug smuggling is a top priority to ensure community safety, mitigate risks, and bolster the security of the UAE. The authority also acknowledged that these accomplishments would not have been achievable without the unwavering support and guidance of the leadership for the customs sector. Furthermore, the authority reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to leveraging all available resources to enhance its efforts in combating smuggling, particularly drug-related activities.
