Silent Hill 2 has received its first major post-launch update, bringing technical enhancements and bug fixes to both PC and PS5 platforms. On PS5, the update addresses a series of 'rare' crashes, particularly in streaming and AI modes. Additionally, it resolves an issue related to toggling in-game motion blur.

For PC players, the update notably improves Steam Deck optimization. Users of DLSS can now activate frame generation and Nvidia Reflex. The patch also introduces support for AMD FSR 3.1.1 and allows the use of AMD Fluid Motion Frames when employing FSR 3.1. for supersampling. Furthermore, graphics settings are now saved locally.

Many of the gameplay fixes are consistent across versions. For instance, James' animations for weapon switching while aiming have been refined. An issue where New Game + information was displayed in the wrong language has also been rectified.
