If you were delaying the purchase of a new Subaru BRZ in anticipation of better pricing or additional features, we have some disappointing news. The base price of Subaru's sports car has increased by $900, and the destination charge has also risen by $50. To be honest, we're finding it hard to understand the reasoning behind this.

The 2025 Subaru BRZ now starts at $32,265, which includes the $1,170 destination fee. In return, Subaru has introduced a new Sport mode across all BRZ trim levels. This software adjustment, according to the company, provides "sharper throttle response during spirited driving." However, this enhancement is only available in models equipped with a manual transmission. If you choose an automatic transmission, everything remains the same as it was last year.

What about the pricing for the Limited and tS models? They too have seen increases, with the Limited manual experiencing the largest hike at $1,100. Here's a detailed comparison of the year-over-year pricing, including destination fees.

This price increase comes at a time when BRZ sales are plummeting. Subaru managed to sell only 1,414 cars during the first half of the year, representing a decline of nearly 44 percent. There's no sign that the situation will improve by the time the third-quarter report is released in early October.

The BRZ remains a beloved sports car, thanks to its 228-horsepower, naturally aspirated 2.4-liter flat-four engine and manual transmission. The tS model offers additional suspension tuning, but with a starting price now approaching $40,000, it's a significant ask when you can get a Subaru WRX or Toyota GR Corolla for a similar amount.
