When The Rogue Prince of Persia debuted in May, Ubisoft and developer Evil Empire were upfront about the game's early development stage and its susceptibility to modifications. However, a recent update is introducing more than just minor tweaks. Evil Empire has unveiled a teaser trailer for The Rogue Prince of Persia - The Second Act, showcasing significant enhancements to the game.
As detailed in the game's Steam notes, the most notable change is the refreshed art direction for the prince, accompanied by more intricate background details. The color palette is now richer and more vivid, with the elimination of purple from the prince's character model. The initial release focused on the first act, which has since been refined and reworked alongside the introduction of the second act.
Evil Empire is also hinting at new biomes, additional enemies, more boss battles, multiple save slot options, and other changes that will be fully disclosed upon the update's launch. Furthermore, localization support for German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish will be included.
Set in the city of Ctesiphon, The Rogue Prince of Persia tasks players with controlling a new prince who unwisely antagonized the Hun army. In retaliation, the Hun chief, Nogai, dispatched his possessed soldiers to annihilate Ctesiphon. Now, the prince must defend his city and employ a mystical artifact to time travel and avert his permanent demise at the hands of his foes.
The Rogue Prince of Persia - The Second Act is slated for release on Steam on November 21. Development of the game's final version is expected to extend into 2025. Notably, the team responsible for the critically praised Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was disbanded by Ubisoft and reassigned to other projects within the company.
