The incoming 47th American President has endorsed a range of Les Paul-style guitars, marking another addition to his expanding line of merchandise. Signed editions are priced at over $10,000. The electric model is marketed as “the only guitar officially endorsed by President Donald J. Trump” and features an “American Eagle Series” with Trump’s campaign slogan “Make America Great Again” inlaid along the neck.
According to Guitar World, guitar brand Gibson has issued a warning to Trump Guitars owner 16 Creative for alleged design infringements. The cease-and-desist notice cites “infringement upon Gibson’s exclusive trademarks, particularly the iconic Les Paul body shape.” Trump Guitars’ website states that the instruments are “custom designed and developed by a veteran-owned company with the help of a master luthier.” However, Guitar World notes that the FAQ section reveals the guitars are produced by “multiple providers” located both domestically and internationally.
