The UAE has made significant strides in London by revealing plans to introduce flying taxis in the country by 2026. A striking model of a bright yellow flying taxi was recently displayed at the bustling Charing Cross railway station, accompanied by the memorable slogan, “In the emirates, even taxis reach the skies; taking off in 2026.”

“This initiative aims to highlight the Emirates’ commitment to implementing flying taxis by the year 2026,” stated the UAE Government Media Office (GMO) on Friday. The showcase was part of the UAE’s ‘Bring Your Impossible/Invest in the UAE’ campaign, which emphasizes the nation’s achievements and the belief that “no dream is impossible.”

The campaign also reflects the UAE’s futuristic vision, aiming to attract investors, big thinkers, and achievers from around the world. The marketing effort proudly showcases the nation’s accomplishments.

The display of the flying taxi underscores the UAE’s role in innovation, particularly in sectors such as AI, BioTech, and FinTech, drawing international investors and dreamers. With platforms like Hub71 and the Dubai Future Foundation supporting entrepreneurship, the UAE remains a fertile ground for turning bold ideas into reality.

This activation is also part of the UAE’s strategy to position itself as a global investment hub, providing a supportive ecosystem for startups and businesses.

In a related development, last month, California-based air-taxi company Joby Aviation announced at the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress and Exhibition in Dubai that their highly anticipated flying taxis will be operational in Dubai as early as the last quarter of 2025. Tyler Trerotola, general manager of Joby Aviation, confirmed that they have advanced the planned launch from 2026 to the end of 2025. Joby is also working on integrating first- and last-mile ridesharing services to transport customers from their origin to any of the four vertiports in Dubai, and then to their final destination. These vertiports will be strategically located at Dubai International Airport (DXB), Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Downtown, and Dubai Marina, further enhancing the city’s innovative transportation landscape.
