The UAE has emerged as the leading contributor to aid for Gaza and its people amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, according to recent data. From the onset of the hostilities in October 2023 until November 2024, the UAE has provided $828 million (Dh3.04 billion) in aid to Gaza, accounting for 42% of the total support extended to Palestinians, as reported by the German Press Agency (dpa). The agency's findings are based on the latest data from the financial tracking service of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The UAE was among the initial responders to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza in 2023. Shortly after the bombings commenced, the country dispatched relief supplies and medical aid via all available routes—air, land, and sea. Despite the ongoing war, the UAE's aid efforts have persisted. Just days ago, the country sent 20 trucks loaded with essential items and relief supplies to assist Palestinians during the winter. The delivery included jackets, coats, blankets, gloves, as well as staples like flour, sugar, cooking oil, rice, and medical supplies.
The UAE's 'Operation Chivalrous Knight 3' has been ceaselessly working to alleviate the suffering of Gazans caught in the midst of the brutal war. Hundreds of aid trucks have been dispatched to the war zone, carrying medical equipment, food parcels, Emirati dates, shelter tents, food supplies, clothing, water, baby formula, parcels for children and women, blankets, and relief bags, among other necessities. Additionally, ambulances, water tanks, and sewage systems have been delivered.
While the UAE Government has spearheaded this humanitarian initiative, the community—comprising both Emiratis and expatriates, royals and volunteers—has also played a significant role. They have contributed, volunteered, and offered assistance in every possible way.
