In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) urged all Syrian parties to exercise wisdom during this pivotal moment in Syria's history, in a way that meets the aspirations and ambitions of all segments of the Syrian population.
Additionally, the Ministry emphasized the importance of preserving the Syrian national state and its institutions, and preventing any descent into chaos and instability. After nearly two weeks of conflict, capturing four significant cities, rebels in Syria entered Damascus without any indication of army deployments. On Sunday, Syrian President Bashar Al Assad departed Damascus for an undisclosed location, according to two senior army officers who spoke to Reuters.
Hadi al-Bahra, the head of Syria's main opposition group abroad, stated on Sunday that Damascus is now "without Bashar Al Assad". This regime collapse comes after a brutal 13-year civil war that began in 2011, when peaceful protests calling for democratic reforms were violently suppressed by the government.
