Although wireless game controllers have been the standard for many years, certain specialty controllers, such as racing wheels, have yet to fully embrace wireless technology. However, there is at least one new racing wheel that is attempting to bridge this gap. Hori has introduced a wireless version of its Apex Racing Wheel, which initially launched as a wired model in 2022 for $120. The wireless Hori Apex is officially licensed by Sony and is compatible with PS5, PS4, and PC. It was released on October 24 and is currently available on Amazon for $170. After extensive research, we found no other wireless racing wheels from major brands for modern platforms, making the Hori Apex the first officially licensed wireless wheel for PlayStation 5, even if it isn't the first of its kind.

For those seeking a more advanced setup, there are several robust (wired) options available. The Logitech G29, currently on sale at Amazon for $249 (originally $300), is arguably the best in terms of performance for its price. Compatible with PC, PS5, and PS4, the G29 boasts a premium design with durable materials and features built-in force feedback for an enhanced sense of realism. Its 900-degree wheel rotation is one of its standout features, allowing you to feel the tight corners as if you were driving the real thing.

Alternatively, the Gran Turismo-themed Thrustmaster T300 RS for PlayStation and PC is another notable option, currently on sale for $330, down from $450. Ideal for racing sim enthusiasts, the T300 RS incorporates a dual-belt system in its brushless motor and utilizes proprietary magnetic technology for optimal wheel precision.

The Thrustmaster T248P, priced at $349 (originally $400), is another high-performance racing wheel that emphasizes customization. Newer than the T300 RS, it might be more appealing with its built-in race dashboard, 25 action buttons, magnetic paddle shifters, and the option to drive stick with an optional TH8S shifter.

For budget-conscious gamers, the wired Hori Apex remains a solid choice, but the Thrustmaster T80, available for $105 (originally $110), is also worth considering. Like the other racing wheels mentioned, the T80 is officially licensed by Sony.

Nintendo Switch owners looking for a racing wheel for Mario Kart should explore Hori's officially licensed wheels with Mario Kart themes. The Pro Mini, designed for younger players, is available for $67 (originally $70), while the Pro Deluxe is available for $86 (originally $110).
