The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has only been available for less than a week, yet it has already established itself as one of the finest games in the series. However, the speedrunning community wasted no time in discovering a significant glitch that enables players to complete the game in under an hour. This glitch grants Zelda the power to teleport directly to the final dungeon, circumventing the majority of the game world and drastically reducing completion times.
"It's now possible to [warp] from after you beat the first dungeon to the final dungeon (although it softlocks)," Reddit user xIceblue explained in a post accompanied by a video demonstrating the glitch. "So we found a way to [warp] to right before, fight the boss there, and proceed into the final area. That flag apparently removes the softlock, and allows us to beat the game with four hearts." Spoilers ahead if you don't want to know how it's done. Here's how it works: Zelda's Echo ability from the Trirod can be used to drop signposts on top of trees, until multiple menus overlap on top of one another. From here, users can simply open up the world map and drop Zelda off near the final dungeon.
Renowned Zelda speedrunner Onaku has already achieved an "any %" completion of the game in just 52 minutes—but is aiming to get it under 50 minutes. Given that the game is so new, it will be fascinating to see how long players can exploit this glitch. However, since Nintendo is known for its swift response to such issues, we might anticipate a patch in an upcoming update sooner rather than later.
