On Friday, government officials reported the discovery of five individuals with bullet wounds, found hanging from an electric pole in southwestern Pakistan. The bodies were located near a college in Dalbandin city, situated close to the borders of Afghanistan and Iran in Balochistan province, an area known for its ongoing and violent insurgency by militant groups.
Attiq Shahwani, a senior government official, informed AFP that 'Five bullet-ridden bodies were found hanging from an electric pylon.' He further stated that the bodies had been transported to a local hospital where doctors confirmed the cause of death as multiple bullet wounds, primarily in the chest area. Shahwani speculated that the men were likely murdered on Thursday. No reports of missing persons had been filed with local police, and the identities of the men remain unknown.
Balochistan, the least populous province of Pakistan, is a region plagued by several militant groups, some advocating for independence or a larger share of the area's mineral resources. These groups frequently target security forces with bombings.
