During the latest State of Play event, Sony revealed that Horizon Zero Dawn is receiving a remaster for both PS5 and PC. Following this announcement, Sony increased the price of the game's PS4 version. Subsequently, Sony removed the original Horizon Zero Dawn from Steam and the Epic Games Store.
According to IGN, the Complete Edition of Horizon Zero Dawn still has a page on Steam, but it is no longer available for purchase. Instead, it directs fans to buy either the remastered version or the sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. The listing for the remastered version also indicates that the game will require a PSN connection. This requirement was a major factor in the review-bombing of God of War Ragnarok a few weeks ago. Sony's decision to include this requirement has been met with significant backlash, particularly among those who prefer single-player experiences.
Visually, Zero Dawn has undergone a significant overhaul to align more closely with Forbidden West. The character models have been enhanced, and new textures and shades have been introduced. Additionally, the remastered version includes over 10 hours of newly recorded motion capture performances.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is set to launch on PC and PS5 on October 31. Players who already own the original Horizon Zero Dawn will have the option to upgrade to the PS5 version for $10.
