Museum of the Future in Dubai

Museum of the future Dubai

The Museum of the Future in Dubai is not just a museum, it is a journey into the day of our future. This museum was opened in 2022 and has already become one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. Visitors are invited to see what the future might look like and even take part in it.
At the Museum, you can explore exhibitions on space exploration, health and well-being, and bioengineering and ecosystems. Younger visitors can dive into a world of interactive and educational activities and be inspired to explore art, math and engineering.
This museum is not only a place to see cutting-edge engineering, but also a space where every visitor can feel themselves a part of the big future. Here everyone will find something amazing and inspiring for themselves.

The foundation story of the museum

The idea for the Future Museum originated with the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is known for his passion for innovation and the future.
The conceptualization of the museum began in the early 2010s. The official announcement of the museum was made in 2015, and since then the project has been moving forward vigorously. The museum was conceived not only as an exhibition space, but also as a platform for demonstrating and developing new technologies.

Construction of the museum began in 2016 and was completed by 2021. This was followed by internal work to design the exhibitions and install the necessary technological systems. The museum officially opened its doors to the public in 2022. Since then, it has become an important destination for tourists and locals interested in the future of technology and innovation.

Architect's concept

inside the museum of the future

The architect of the Museum, Shaun Killa of Killa Design, reflects the desire for innovation and progressive ideas in architecture. The main concept of the museum is not only to create a building that would become a symbol of the future, but also to embody innovative approaches to architecture and construction.

One of the key features of the museum's design is its unique toroidal shape, which symbolizes eternity and continuity of knowledge. The building has no internal columns, which creates an open and airy space inside.

The facade of the museum is covered with steel panels that are robotically engraved with Arabic calligraphy. These quotes from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum about the future and innovation serve not only an aesthetic function, but also a practical one, acting as windows in the museum.
Advanced technologies including robotic manufacturing and parametric modeling were used in the construction of the museum. This made it possible to create the complex shapes and elements of the facade precisely and efficiently.

Interesting facts

The facade of the building is made of 1,024 plates, each of which is made with the help of robots. This ensures that each element is precise and unique.
The museum uses solar panels to provide its own energy needs. These panels are installed on the roof and other suitable surfaces of the museum. The use of solar energy not only makes a significant contribution to the environment, but also demonstrates the possibilities of renewable energy.
The museum is also equipped with systems for recycling so-called “gray water” - wastewater that can be reused after treatment. This approach not only saves water resources, but also reduces the total amount of wastewater leaving the building.

The museum offers a number of exhibitions that allow visitors to interactively explore different aspects of future technologies, from healthcare to space exploration and sustainable development.

Even before its opening, the museum won several international awards for its unique design and architectural innovation. This emphasizes its significance as a cultural icon in Dubai and beyond.
A unique feature of the Museum is the green hill on which it is located. The hill is covered with a variety of vegetation, which makes the museum more harmonious with its surroundings. This creates a pleasant atmosphere for visitors and emphasizes the ecological orientation of the museum.
