India captain Rohit Sharma and his wife Ritika Sajdeh shared the joyous news of the birth of their newborn child on Saturday. Rohit took to Instagram to announce the expansion of their family, referencing the beloved sitcom 'Friends' with the caption, "The FAMILY, the one where we are four." He also shared the birth date of his child, "15.11.2024." Rohit and Ritika were previously blessed with a daughter, Samaira, born in 2018. Due to the recent addition to their family, Rohit did not accompany the Indian cricket team to Perth for the Border Gavaskar series opener. With the series set to begin in less than a week, it remains uncertain whether Rohit will participate in the opening Test against Australia.
In another joyful announcement, Rohit's teammate KL Rahul and actress Athiya Shetty revealed their pregnancy on Instagram. The couple shared a heartfelt note stating, "Our beautiful blessing is coming soon. 2025 (baby feet emojis)." The note also featured a clip art of the evil eye. Both KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty are part of India's squad for the upcoming series. The highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia commences on November 22 with the first Test in Perth. The second Test, a day-night fixture, will be held at Adelaide Oval from December 6 to 10. The third Test is scheduled at The Gabba in Brisbane from December 14 to 18, followed by the traditional Boxing Day Test at Melbourne's iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30. The series will culminate with the fifth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3 to 7, promising an exhilarating finish to the series.
